Funds for growth

Yesterday morning, the 50th Microcredit from Qredits Bonaire was granted to entrepreneur Sjaika Gonzáles. With this investment, she can realize her growth ambitions for her business, 'Twinkel After-School Care and Homework Assistance.' Qredits has been active on Bonaire since 2015, offering loans of up to $50,000 to both new and existing entrepreneurs to start or expand their businesses.

The handover to Sjaika

Government Commissioner Mr. Edison Rijna this morning handed over a symbolic check to entrepreneur Sjaika at the government office. Sjaika is a local entrepreneur who has worked in education for many years. She has finally realized her dream and started her own after-school care and homework assistance service. With the Microcredit, she aims to achieve growth. She plans to use the funds for inventory and the setup of the daycare.

Qredits Bonaire’s goal is to strengthen entrepreneurship on Bonaire by offering loans of up to $50,000 to (start-up) entrepreneurs, along with coaching programs. Qredits opened a branch on Bonaire at Kaya Amsterdam 23, Kralendijk, at the end of 2015. To date, 70 loan applications have been submitted to Qredits. Currently, over 55 businesses have been financed with a Microcredit, and several applications are still under review.

Support for entrepreneurship

In addition to the Microcredit, Qredits provides support to start-up entrepreneurs in writing a business plan. This can be done through the e-learning course "How to write a business plan" (available in 3 languages) or by participating in the BeYourOwnBoss Evening School. Finally, Qredits offers coaching to entrepreneurs through its own pool of coaches.

The goals for 2017/2018 are to grant approximately 100 loans of $50,000, assist over 200 aspiring entrepreneurs in setting up their own businesses, and offer the entrepreneurship education program BeYourOwnBoss to 250 students.
