Qredits Bonaire is celebrating five years at its current location and will move to the ‘Next Level’ in 2024.
Environmentally conscious furniture
From a young age, Peter Schoemaker (34) enjoyed working on projects with his father in his free time. Peter had an eye for detail and loved working with his hands. This led him to pursue a wood and furniture making course in Amsterdam to develop into a true craftsman.
During his studies, Peter engaged in furniture repair and creation as a hobby. After moving to Bonaire in 2018, he decided, together with his partner Ninoska Perez Acevedo, to turn his hobby into a business, thus founding PS Furniture.
PS Furniture specializes in designing and crafting furniture and art using all types of reclaimed wood. They collect driftwood washed up on Bonaire's beaches and reuse wood otherwise destined for waste. PS Furniture is an environmentally conscious organization, contributing to a more sustainable society.
Peter and Ninoska hope that more entrepreneurs will follow their example and choose to adopt environmentally friendly business practices.
Together, they form a strong team and complement each other well. Peter creates the wooden designs, while Ninoska, an interior designer by profession, handles the marketing and administration. The Cultuurlening will be used to set up their online furniture showcase and purchase professional tools. The BES-Cultuurlening is specifically designed for entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sectors on Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba. Intended for working capital or investments, the Cultuurlening is an initiative of Cultuur+Ondernemen and made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science as part of the Talent Development Policy. Entrepreneurs can also benefit from a free Qredits Coach alongside the financing.
For more information about the BES-Cultuurlening, entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sectors on the Dutch Caribbean islands can contact Qredits Bonaire.
